Hi guys

Now for a change I would need some help :) After 2 years, we just decided we are going for holidays to USA again. Now I have "small" problem. Location is same as 2 years ago, and that means flying to LA or SF and then driving around national parks in SW of USA, but... :) We don't want to see same parks as last time, which means Grand Canyon, Arches, Bryce, Yosemite and Death Valley are out of list. Joshua tree is a must, as I always pop there at least for one night, even if I go to LA for business :)
Now I would need some suggestions where to go and what to see. One option is Joshua tree, Organ pipe cactus, Petrified forrest, Mesa Verde, Canyonlands, Lake Tahoe and Sequoia NP. This would make nice round for about 3 weeks of traveling, but I'm very open to any suggestion.
Here are few more things to keep in mind when suggesting where to go... I'm not American, which means I rather walk then drive :p (wish we could bring our bikes and stay in Moab for week or two :) ) I hate cities and hotels (I have them more then enough during my work, so we are trying to avoid them during holidays), so we are staying as much as possible in camps with tent. We are coming to see parks and not skyscrapers... skyscrapers looks same everywhere on world so... Oh yeah one more thing... we are coming on the end of june or begining of july, but if heat didn't kill us last time when we hiked down to bottom of Grand canyon and back at +45c, I guess we will survive this one too :)
Hmm... that would be pretty much all. So please help! :)

How about Antelope Canyon? You also might check out this thread on dpreview for Paria Plateau: http://forums.dpreview.com …orum=1032&thread=22685625 (external link)

You might also try going up the tram near Palm Springs. You will pass through about 6 different ecosystems on the way up to alpine.

The White Mountains off of Hwy 395 will also let you see the oldest living things on earth, Bristlcone Pines. A good 4 mile hike @10,000+feet might leave you breathless, as will the scenery! Good luck in finding Methusela:).

Some would think Carmel/Big Sur a must see. For camping Big Sur will satisfy.

For a challenge try Garrapata Park. A strenuous 4.5mi hike will entertain you for a day. http://www.stateparks.com/garrapata.html (external link)

You already mentioned JTNP. So how about the Mojave Preserve which includes the singing Sand Dunes, Cinder Cones, Lava Tube, Hole in the Wall and the Restored Kelso Depot. It may be a little remote but it's has some great sights.

Thanks guys for your suggestions. I will take a look for those those locations :)
PS: Yonni we were in Antelope canyon last time, but if we will be around we will definitely go again. It's really great place and so much different then anything I saw till now, so it's definitely worth visiting again.

Primov, I'm so jealous of you right now. Actually a few days ago I saw a post in another forum and I've been thinking of going back out there in within a few months, maybe.:(

I haven't been to but I hear Zion and the Grand Staircase/Escalante area are pretty cool also.

Here's a little vid clip I found on a 16 mile hike in Zion(you don't have to do the 16 but it seems like the most fun).

Here's the page (external link) I got the link from, gonna definitely need a dry bag.

Looking forward to seeing some pics maybe.

Good luck choosing and have a blast.

Christian.
