I want to understand how the manual focus works. In a regular zoom lens for e.g., the red dot points on the object, I press click, whatever is behind the red hot is in focus.

Does the T+S lens even have red dots pt.? If not, what if I'm taking photos of my pets, and say they move, does that mean I have to keep manual focus until they stop moving?

It is manual focus only. The camera might beep if the area on the red dot is in focus, but it won't do anything to bring it into focus if it is not.

Put one of your autofocus lenses in manual and try it out. You'll get the same response.

I get the focus confirmation (red dots) on this lens by pressing either the shutter button or the wired remote half-way down. I sometimes keep the button pressed and fiddle with the manual focus to get that 'auto focus' effect

if the ONLY scenario for me to use a Tilt-Shift lens is to take photo shoot of my pets eating, would you say there is enough seconds to do a proper manual focus before they move again?

I really want one of these babies. The DOF control looks insane and sharpness/bokeh seem to be quite ridiculous (in the best sort of way).

I love this lens. Use it all the time. I even use it for portraits every once in a while for fun

I'm assuming that it's the number on the barrel, opposite the near/far focusing lines.

Sometimes, I just have to take pics of my food.
