^^Excellent work. Those scenes worked out really well. The shipping dock is freaking terrific :)

Finally got to knock the dust off of mine. I did focus stack a few images here just to be safe. I liked the comp and didn't want to screw up :)

So did my first shoot today with the 5Dsr (rental) and at first i wasnt blown away. BUT of course i knew i had to wait until i got home to see the images. It was a cocktail shoot for a bar in Vegas. The detail is out of control.

A) that's cool, in and of itself.
B) not a bad showing for an old lens. This shows why I wouldn't be terribly interested in replacing the 90 with a revised version.

That is bonkers!!! They should be pretty happy with that photo. I'm not really sure how canon could improve this lens besides allowing the tilt and shift to be changed independently without taking the lens apart. Even then, I don't think I'd upgrade :)

So asked one of my clients if i could shoot some food and beverage at their restaurant to test this camera out. They were cool with it so here we are. I have also included links to the hi-res images too.

So after looking at these and shooting this food, which i would mainly do with this camera i dont think im in love. Yeah its great when you really zoom in. But is it a huge upgrade from my mkiii and worth $3500. For me i dont think so.

These are the kind of images that have me missing my 90/TS-E. I really wish the rumors would resurface of some new TS-E lenses coming out of canon. About 6-8 months ago, there was talk of two new L-series TS-Es - one in a standard length (~50mm) and a another in a longer length (perhaps ~135mm.)

I think that those look pretty fantastic; I can only imagine the flexibility afforded in terms of cropping and printing. Of course, I'm mentally comparing against my venerable 5D and not an MkIII, and actually working a file from capture to output gives a much better idea of performance than simply sitting on the sidelines, looking at the end result.

In any event, nice work and I'm (again) quite impressed at what this 'old' lens is capable of.

How does the Nikon Tilt shift in the same focal range compare? I think it's $2k. Can the Nikon change axes for tilt and shift movements without tools? The D810 looks good, but the Canon TS-E lenses are difficult to let go of.

It's a stellar lens, great for product photography and architecture. The olny thing about it is focusing, it's not quite easy. ts24L is much easier to handhold and focus without live-view. I like the look of portraits made with it, but due to focusing it's barely usable.

Yup, that's the nature of MF with less DoF (vs the 24). Make a habit of using your DoF preview button when you're stopping down at all and, if available for your body, the precision matte focusing screen works wonders.

I always just use live view, although that wasnt possible when i was up in the helicopter and had to trust what i was shooting. i was nervouse tbh but happy with what i got. I honestly dont think this is greatly used for portraits.
