I've gotten great prints and years of reliable and uninterrupted service from my i9100

The closest model currently that Canon sells is the pro9000 which just replaced the i9900.

These are all 13" wide dye based printers.

I am now using a 17" with IPF5000, but have not used it long enou8gh to comment on it's reliability. It prints on the other hand are the best I have seen from anything. It allows me to print 16 images in a gamut as large as AdobeRGB.

I was just wondering how well the ink lasts for you on your Canon i9100. Do you find you have to replace the cartridges often? Or do they seem to last forever? Im just wondering what kind of costs I should expect for 8x10's.

I just got this printer and so far I really like it. To bad its almost as long as my desk, hehe.

I use a Roland Soljet 545EX Pro II V. Can do really really large prints at 54" wide by 150 feet.

I have both the S9000 and the W6400 LF printers. I just added the 24" this winter and boy is it fun. But it is not cheap to learn or to operate. But you can create some wonderful posters as well as canvas and vinyl banners too. Canon has great software as well as a pretty darn good RIP software to.

It depends on how wide you mean. For me, I'm using the Epson R1800 (13" wide.)

Michael

I want one of those please! The printer with the 13" carriage!

I've been trying to find a used one and no luck so far. I have the R800 which is fantastic just not wide enough at times when I want a bigger print.

CDS,

What profile/media are you using that gets you to a gamut as large as ARGB?
Granted I'm not running the IPF5000 but here is some info about gamut volumes gleaned via ColorThink Pro.

RedRiver ultraprogloss for IPF5000 750,913
Our PET_G hi-gloss for Roland FJ-500 826,757
AdobeRGB 1,306,820
