The POTN Book Committee and Panels are pleased to announce the final selection of the photographs to be included in the book. Because so many of you took the time to vote on images, we know that you will be eager to find out which of your favorites made it, and to see the final collection. Therefore, we have created twelve galleries containing the photos. The first photo in each gallery is the "signature" photo that will be used to introduce that section of the book; the remainder are being presented in random order while we work on layout.

We would like to extend our special thanks to everyone who entered photos; the final book will serve as testimony to the superb quality of your submissions. We also want to thank everyone who voted. We know that voting was a time-consuming process that involved many difficult decisions, and we greatly appreciate your careful choices, which made our task much easier.

Without further ado, here are the galleries:

You may also be wondering what happens next. Selecting the photos was undoubtedly the hardest part, but a lot of work still needs to be done. We will be working with the original photographers to get book quality submissions of the selected photos." Remember we could still need to reject a photo and go to a backup based on quality, EXIF, or releases. Submitters will be asked to provide some commentary on the shot too. At the same time, we will begin layout, trying to find an aesthetic balance that gives the best possible presentation to the pictures and accompanying text.

After we have a layout, we will ask the printer, Blurb.com, to produce a proof copy of the book. That will allow us to check reproduction quality and make adjustments if any of the pictures don't look as good on the page as they do on the screen. If necessary, we may repeat this cycle to make sure everything is OK.

Finally, we will announce availability of the book and the ordering process. Hopefully, you will find it well worth the wait!

By the way, just in case some people missed it, the SmugMug Galleries hosting these images were generously donated to us by SmugMug.

And, in case some missed this, too, SmugMug is offering a free trial and discount to POTN users. After using SmugMug - a LOT - for this contest I can certainly recommend them. So if you're looking for a great place to host your photos, give SmugMug a try.

I just had a look at the two galleries. The selected shots, including the signature shots, are all top quality, beautiful photographs.

On the transportation signature shots, I am sure it is the "ultimate shot machine" -- not becasue I drive a M3....;) What a nice shot! Most of the shots I voted are there...so I did good!.

Yes fantastic photos. Now I know why mine weren't included :p
Especially when I ranked near the bottom of the 30+ images in motorsport.

I may have missed the post on it, but is this going to become like a yearly POTN tradition? I hope enough people buy the book to make it worth while to do again. I think it would be cool to have a few POTN books on the coffee table. Volume 1, Volume 2, ect...;)
