Limits you to what? These are excellent shots. :)

Just learn to get closer to the birds, or bribe them to coming closer to you. ;)

You have done very well with your 200. Excellent in flight shots.

Thanks.
I should get bread or something to attract them. I want to try shooting pigeons in flight and more birds beyond seagulls, but my 200 seems to be difficult to work with. I try to get as close to them as possible, especially when shooting them on the ground.

My keeper ratio for seagulls should not be nearly this low. It is user fault, my 70-200 would be fine if I was a more skilled birder I guess, and knew how to track them better.
However, the 70-200 I don't think will go too far in the world of birding, with a lack of range.

the good thing going for you is greater dof with the 200mm No3 is great and sharp all over so thats in you favour -reach is a problem but then dof is tiny with 300-400- 500mm .
even slow moving gull's are hard to get spot on focus regardless of gear used so your doing well with shots like this i dump 95% of my inflights shot/s but i exspect this as the way it is.

My keeper rate is probably less then 2-3% for these guys. It's just damn difficult to track birds, atleast for me.

i think it is for everyone even my mk2 and 300f2.8 isL miss far more that i want yet it's said to be the fastest focusing setup in the world but trying to keep center point on a bird's head is almost inposible i think a lot of Luck is involved and take lots of shot's .
often the focus point hits the body but DOF on a long tele will not cover head and body unless its a bird side onto you the problem then is the AF point hits the wing so the wing's sharp and nothing else -no its not easy .
Rob.
