Anyone try these? I just always have a feeling someone will drip over a light stand with flashes attached at the reception, plus this would be more asthetically pleasing if it were to make it into an image

Yeah, I've got one. Never used it though. If the surface isn't perfectly clean and flat then it'll eventually fall off. Painted walls... mine falls off after a couple minutes. Stained wood lasts longer. Clean glass is the most secure. For the price of a 580... I'm not sure I want to risk that. Call me paranoid. I know lots do it quite happily.

The first I saw of them was when David Jay showed what he takes to a wedding. I think that a tri-pod mounted one offers more directional control and portability around a floor but at the price of space. Plus, if you wished, an umbrella can be used as well. IMHO

I really don't like the idea of the suction cup, seems like tempting disaster. I've seen a couple images of a strap mount that I thought would work nicely for attaching to support columns, etc.

I believe Jules Bianchi uses these too....I dont think I would use one though. I would be too afraid of the suction failing, then there goes my $400 flash!
