Am I out of luck?

I ordered a Sandisk Extreme III 2Gb card and received it late last week (March 30). It came with an offer that allows me to download a copy of Capture One LE, enter the serial number included in the packaging and have a working copy of C1 LE. The problem is when I went to their website on April 2 I couldn't get to the download page to get the software. I didn't notice that the offer was good until March 31. Does anyone know where I can download a copy of this? I tried to google it and all the links I found sent me to the Phase One site. Any advice?

The bad news is, that link still doesn't get me to the file. I get an error on the final page. The good news is, PaulSoebekti worked relentlessly to take care of me. I finally got the file due to his efforts. Thanks Paul!

Now I need to learn how to use it. :D

a neat overview of how to use capture one can be found here: http://www.beautiful-landscape.com/Thoughts36.html (external link)

he uses the pro version so you can't do some of stuff, but it helps give an idea of raw conversion.

Just watched the ACR videos; You'd be better off to search POTN for info on ACR...
It's pretty obvious he doesn't use it often...

By the way: IMHO lowering the white point is *not* the way to restore clipping. (Since it doesn't restore anything )

you're quite right from the point of view of restoring image data that might be blown out. exposure adjustment is appropriate for that.

he was lowering the white point for printing.

Be as it may, but then just setting 253 and 5 for white and blackpoint (or whatever the exposure warning in C1 is set to!!) will give you no "red or green blinkies". Kinda senseless IMHO. You just get a uniform "very light gray" and "very dark gray" erea, instead of solid white and black in the print...

i have had other digital photographers talk to me about that when printing, at least set the white point so that at least _some_ ink gets laid down on the paper. i guess it's not that popular anymore or has become senseless as you say. the ones who did talk to me about it were printing on dye-sub printers at the time. but either way... like you said it's important to know that this is not how to restore blown highlights.
