Excellent - I'd say you have a competition winner there!

Great shots. I love #1 the most. Gee, I was trying to get a nice water-based picture to use as a desktop/wallpaper pic for my Mac,a dn this one outdoes everything I've done or found so far.

Any chance to get a copy of it in 1024x768? ;)

Thanks for sharing your shot.

To be honest, I like the second picture. The bubble looks like it's made from blown glass with the reflection of the sun on the lower right. It creates such a clean and pure image against the smooth water.

Pristine.

You should see if you get any interest from bottled water companies

Thanks all for your nice comments, and my apologies for not responding sooner.
I don't know why I lost track of this thread. :(

Anyway, reshot this subject for FredMiranda "Weekly Assignment 117: Blue" (external link) and thought I'd add the new pic to this thread. I like the different swirls and colors you can get in these shots, but it's a very random process. You don't know what will come out, and most of the shots are boring and brownish. Some show really nice reflections though.

Here's two new ones, the second is my contest entry under the name "Smooth sailing". Hope you like! :)

Crazy how the most mundane objects can make up the most interesting
photo subjects.

Closeups and macros are becoming more and more fascinating to me, they show detail and structures that you normally don't see or notice. That's part of why they are so interesting I guess. I need a macro lens...

fantastic shots - I love them all = I really have to try that one day - what lens did you use? My favorite was the top one, and I would crop a bit off the bottom but now my favorite is smooth sailing - just great shots

Thanks Rachelita!

They were all taken with the 100-400 lens, which is not ideal as I had to be a long way away from the bubble (at the near focusing limit). The pictures are quite heavily cropped because of this. Something like a 24-70 or other lens with macro capability would be better I think.
