National Kartsport Championship from Manawatu in NZ. Overnigfht rain left the track a little green for the first few practice sessions but the track soon rubbered in and the lap records started to fall during the heats.

The track favours the morning sunlight. By the early afternoon onwards there are few spots with half decent backgrounds that don't require shooting in to the sun.

1. Reasonable shot of Niki Urwin (42) but what is Phil Hicks (7) so interested in? Whjat he is looking at is a field with half a dozen horse in it

2. No problems filling the grids. Drivers from all over NZ made the trip

3. Niki Urwin (again) who did the decent thing and framed the photo for me

4. It's bad enough when you tap your team mate in to a spin, but launching yourself over the curbs in a direct attack ....

5 . Following on with "Klippe's Criteria" for a shot from Manfeild

- cars (well Karts) going in as many different directions as possible
- some grass must make it into the shot
- some crowd must be visible in the shot (Failed but I did get a cone)
- some sky must be visible in the shot (oops :o )
- must convey some motion too

I thought I'd have a go .... (2.5 out of 5 hummmmm)

Nice shots again Dave - are you sure those horses weren't doing anything to catch his attention

Guess I should have made the effort today to get out there after all :o

I'll give you points for managing to get the edge of a tree in the shot though. That almost makes up for the lack of sky.

I'll have to add 'foreground tree - but not too distracting' to my shot recipe.....

Great shots once more Dave.

Cliff

The impossible has begun - another step closer - and I am very hungry for it.

32-40 days both islands, some walkabout but 99% by car travelling either May/June or Aug/Sep

In Wellington you have 1 kart track (1st time there for me next week).

Just north of Lower Hutt, which is 30 minutes north of Wellington on SH2, you have the stock car track that races most Fridays.

Palmerston North, another 45 minutes north, has Manawatu Kart Track and Feilding (Manfeild) track with all sorts of racing going on.

Carry on up to Taupo for circuit racing and Hamilton for the street races.

Auckland for the divorce

Bunch of stuff on the South Island too, but I haven't made it that far .... Yet !
