Is AF noise of 135L loader than other USM lenses (e.g 70-200 2.8, 85 1.8 and etc...)

I got this lens today. I feel 135L on my 30D is sharper than on my 5D at f2. But with AF bracketing, the sharpness at f2 on 5D was OK.

Is this normal (AF bracketing and loader AF noise)??

The 5D will naturally have a more shallow depth of field, so that could be the main part of your sharpness issues. Shoot at a focus chart for a more accurate comparison :)

As for the noise, someone else will have to chime in.

Noise wise i haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary compared to my other USM's except the AF is bloody fast!

Mine is fast and quiet. About the same as my EF-S 17-55 (sharper though - my 135L is my sharpest lens even at f/2).

There may be some noise, if you're listening very carefully that is. I didn't have a lot of experience with this lens. But the AF has always been very fast and near silent. There may be an initial soft 'clunk' when the AF starts, but that's hardly anything to worry about.

Even the buzzing noise of a Rebel kit lens wouldn't bother most audience. I doubt if the AF of a 135mm f/2 will even be heard by most people at shooting distance from your camera. Absolutely nothing to worry about.

Mine copy is a bit loader than EF 70-200 2.8L. I'll try another one.

may be!! but I think the AF noise of my copy is load. It doesn't work as silent as my other lenses. The new copy is just arrived. but I have to wait to go to home :)

I compared my own copy with another one sample. mine was sharper but a bit loader AF noise. Anyway I prefered more sharpness instead of quiter AF. Therefore I kept my copy.

Truley it's the greatest CANON lens.
