Editing a 'studio' shot

Did a shoot last week where I had to make do with a very cramped and under equiped studio, otherwise known as our front room. Didn't have a backdrop longer than that where it could just touch the floor, so when I had to shoot the model full length sat down from a low angle I ended up with the wall and the floor in shot. Light was from below the camera, so the shadows fall away from the camera. No other lighting.

I can't post the original image as it's part of an agreement with the model that she gets to see the shots first, but here's a diagram. Don't laugh.

Any opinions on the best way to edit the 'background' to be one thing? Make the floor extend, paste the floor in so it looks like an extension of the floor? Technique advice will be appreciated as I have never done editing like this, prefering to leave PP to a minimum as a rule. I HATE not having the proper equipment to do shoots.

hmph... unless actually seeing the photo it's hard to know / say what type of editing you need... but i mean from what you said, u just want to have a good blend / transition from the backdrop to the floor? or something.. maybe a very well done, clone job might suit your purpose... but yet again, without the actual photo, it's very hard to figure out what u need

What are her lines like? Maybe cut her out and paste her into a more photogenic background

If I was going to cut her out I think I'd try and retain a studio backdrop...

well actually it's not a bad idea. u can knock her out of the photo she's in and put in a digital backdrop. it's a pretty simple process actually

How's best to try and retain the shadow details that are on the floor? If you create a graduated white backdrop and there are no shadows then it will look very false very quickly.

usually i have my models far enough away from the backdrop that they don't cast any shadows onto the backdrop anyway to start off with, so i don't see the problem with that. as for shadows on the floor... that's a bit more tricky, u could prob just crop at the knees or something? or does it have to be full length?

It kinda does yeah, it's one of those figure nudes where the legs do the funny curvy shape thing at the floor....

It's just making my head ache quite frankly. I despise being in this situation too, back home I had access to several studios and wouldn't compromise and then try to bodge it all together later. Here in Scotland I'm having to either not shoot this sort of stuff or make a big mess of it.
