Anyone know of a code for the Sigma 100-300mm EX DG HSM F/4? I'll keep guessing for now. :)

Typically "promo codes" are given out to industry people at industry trade shows. So in b&h's case I would assume pro photographers. But if b&h didn't want Joe Snapshot to use them, they could stop it. So, I wouldn't feel guilty about using one. It only helps their sales IMO.

they've gone to great lengths to stop them ;)

they are for trade show attendees and members of affiliate organizations.

Considering that they have a quite modern website, I would hardly say they've gone to great lengths to stop people from using these codes. If what they have then I'd be concerned about my credit card info on their site. The deal is accessible by a direct link. That means 0 security. They even have a disclaimer in their pricing policy saying that they happily honor the lowest price you can find on their site for a given product.

If they want only select individuals to use the codes, they could easily create appropriate registered account privileges to monitor it.

I say if you find the code, use it. :)

I dont think they are so protective over their codes as one might think. Ive read many many posts and threads sharing codes, I have yet to see a post or thread talk about B&H refusing a buyer from using the code because they (the buyer) was not one that B&H gave the code out to.[EDIT] or even heard someone mention that B&H questioned where they got the code

Like it was said, it brings them money.

Besides the 100-400L, did the codes ever work for manfrotto tripods or head? That'd interest me too.

Not huge, but definitely worth it. I just used the code for the 24-105L IS, and saved a $100. Not only does B&H make another sale (I assume they are not losing money on the lens) but they gain goodwill from me. I could have bought the lens for the regular price in half a dozen reputable places.. but this code gave the sale to B&H. I included other things in the order which were not on promo - this is all just good business on their part.
