Really good shots here, that combo works very well. I absolutely love the eider shots as it's one of my favorite birds anyway, but to get all that detail and see the eye...tough thing to do. Great exposure too.

I'd love more discussion on exactly how you accomplished this - tripod, stance, did you lose autofocus with your Kenko?, etc Ward

I've taped the pins (yes, the correct ones) stood in the midday sun, and cannot, for the life of me, get the lens to AF. I gotta be doing something wrong, but haven't a clue. Manually focusing is a bit tricky with the focus ring being so far out. I'm about to put the Canon 1.4TC up for sale, if I can't figure out a workaround. Steve -
