Why? Will it give you autofocus below f8? I like the 1.6 conversion factor as I need the reach for wildlife.

It will keep AF up to f/8 and it has a 1.3 conversion factor, and, 16.8 megapixel sensor. ;)

I've taped the pins (yes, the correct ones)

Are you sure? The pins on the end the lens goes into, not the other end?

Thanks Mitch. That helps. Now if I could only find an extra $8,000 Cdn.

Very nice series Keith. More examples of great color and detail from this combination.

Yep. Looked at pictures here on the board. I tape the pins that make contact with the back of the lens. They are male pins. The other end of the TC look like flat contacts rather than pins. The pins I tape do not make contact with the camera itself, but the lens. Right?

I admit to being a manual dexterity moron, but this is ridiculous. Maybe it's the tape I'm using. Is their a proper type tape perhaps?

I'd really like to get this to work.

Sorry about hijacking this thread. My 100-400 with 1.4TC has been solved. Turns out I was taping the wrong pins after all.

The sordid tale can be found here - https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=303968

A very nice series of shots Keith! If these are just random test shots then I'd love to see the real thing!:D

Keith....You certainly got better results that I ever have with the Canon 1.4 converter on my 100-400. Those are truly impressive results.

Hi all, and thanks for the kind words - it's very encouraging.

Jason,

I stayed at Sheringham for convenience (it's where the train stops!) and visited Cley, Salthouse, Titchwell, and Pensthorpe wildfowl reserve.

It's amazing down there - I didn't want to come home!

Excellent series and with a tc. Never had much success with my combination, hardly ever use it. It appears to work well for you.
