Hi,

I understand most of the people here recommend Sekonic 358. I looked that up and it is available for about $240. I was wondering there are other model available from Sekonic that are cheaper. I am not a professional (I don't make money from Photography) so I want to know if I can use one of the cheaper sekonic and live with it without saying, ah man, I should have gotten 358. I will be using it with my 4 light AB 800 kit.

Thank you.

Take a look at this thread.

The forum search function is your friend. A search for Sekonic or flash meter will yield a plethora of info and opinions.

Hi Baddil,

The Sekonic L-308S seems to be the meter of choice for those looking for a well rounded, accurate (given you establish a working ISO for your camera) meter at a reasonable price. I have not checked the price but I believe it goes for about $189. Go to the Sekonic site (external link) for technical specifications and comparison to other Sekonic meters. It's readily available at B&H, Adorama, Amazon, etc.

The L-358 is a little nicer and has the provision for the Pocket Wizard transmitter module and the spot metering attachment. Be careful though. If you have any intention of adding the PW module and the spot metering attachment then you might want to spend a little more (well, more than a little more) and consider an L-758, which has the PW and 1 degree spot metering built-in. It's one hell of a meter but far more than many need. By the time you add those accessories to an L-358 you're already most of the way to paying for the L-758.

Thank you guys. I guess I need to do a little more research before making a decision. :-)

If you just want a good basic meter and those other things are not any concern then the L-308S will be great. It's in expensive and works very well. I did not mean to confuse you, but rather, to inform you.
