Digital Rebel & 540ez

Hello,
Ive had the digital rebel for about a year, and I love it. But this afternoon, I bought a 540ez flash, and I cant figure out how to get it to work with my camera. I looked on their website, but theres no manual for the flash on Canon's website. Can anyone help?

Unless you work the 540EZ in manual mode, it's not going to work for you since it is not ETTL compatible, unfortunately. It'll only work in TTL mode with the EOS film cameras. Can you return it for a refund or an exchange (for an EX flash)?

Does manual mean that Id have to hit the pilot button when ever I take a shot?

No, it means that you have to set the camera to manual mode or Av mode so that you can set the aperture and then adjust the flash output manually for the distance your main subject is at.

Im almost always in manual on the camera, how do I adjust the distance on the flash? Ive gotten it to work a couple of times, but im not sure what I did. Thanks for your help
