congrat to this week's winner...Boutty!
I just loved the geometrics in your picture, and the silent meaning of the pic.
Second...Marie!
Great colors, and always interesting to me to see fire apparatus from other countries.
And lastly, but a good finish, bottom Bracket!
I wonder what happens IF you had to pay late fees, or were late!!!!

So congratulations to this weeks participants, good job!

~chris~

Congratulations to winner boutty and runner up marie! those are well taken shots. I'm glad I got into the winner's circle, for a while there I thought I might not make it :) Kidding aside, I think it is unfortunate that there were only three entries, but I understand that these things happen from time to time. Thanks Boxlock for a well run challenge, and thank you for your services as a fireman, I highly respect your work.

:)

Congratulations Boutty winner # 1
great angle on your shot

and to BottomBracket # 3
hope the business survives to open up again

thank you very much Chris for judging and comments.
no matter how few entries its not easy choose a winner

took a few shots when photographing the firemen that evening
I told the lads you were a fireman and interested so they brought the truck around to the front of the building for me
then I asked them to open it up to show its insides :)
they were really kind about all
they were on duty until the next morning.

10 years ago the brigade were called out on a false alarm
the fire engine raced out and turned right.... but crashed into a tree as it raced down the hill just past the fire station seen here
very sadly one fireman was killed
a monument and flowers are placed at the spot to always remember him

thank you Chris and all very much for taking part in the challenge

Great shots! I'm disappointed of the timing of this contest. I've been trying to get some time with my brother, who's a firefighter. He seems to make the paper several times a year, so I was looking forward to shooting him in action.

Great shots marie and Poi for this week contest - I enjoy seeing the well captured of the moments of both of your shots. Thanks Chris (Boxlock) for the honour of the top spot and great topic.

Coming from the country of bush fires, especially last summer, we owed so much to the effort of the volunteers or paid fire fighters. Big thanks to guys and girls like you.

Like Frank, I was disappointed with myself not having time to shoot a few shots of my local fire department/fire fighters. Took this shot of the old but still active fire hydrant in our capital city, Canberra. The fire hydrant seems to be there before the new shopping mall was erected.

I still say great shots everyone!

Marie:
I have downloaded your pics and printed them to show all the guys at the firehouse.
I have been a volunteer for 20 years, and presently am the Assistant chief of a town in the shadows of NYC. We got hit pretty hard sunday evening into monday by that Nor'easter, with flooding and evacuations, by boys and I have been working for 30+ hours straight trying to keep things safe. It's a tough job that none of us would give up....ever.

Every one of ya did a great job, and bottom bracket, it must have been a tough job getting those FDNY guys just to stand still for a moment....those guys never stop!

to be a volunteer is wonderful. regards to you and all who help so much
and to all firemen everywhere
very sorry to hear about the storm and the problems which arose from it
I expect you all needed some well earned sleep later

not sure if you know about him but Mills (here on the forum) takes such great shots of firefighters in action.

D.F.T.C on the fire engine in my shots stands for Defence Forces Training Centre
there is another fire station downtown. H.Q for the county.
the United Nations Training School is also close to the fire station ( shown in the photos above)
all are on the military camp
