I would still really like to know what was in the background pleaaase!

Sorry I missed seeing your question the first time. I shot that picture from my truck as I was driving down a gravel road. If I remember correctly, the background was a line of tules way off in the distance.

Red-winged Blackbirds

why do they call them that? :)

great captures there and thanks for presenting them.

I'm envious of the bokeh in these images but I would like to see a bit more of a wider range of tones and detail in the backgound. But that's just being picky. The subject is really clear and sharp and the exposure is perfect.

Ahhh... I asked because I think the creamy colour really goes well with the subject.

I took a RWB against a light blue sky the other day (no other choice... the bird was perched quite high). Anyway if I wanted plumage detail I had to almost blowout the sky. A nice medium-toned background would have made things much easier.

I've often wondered the same thing.....why not Red-shouldered Blackbirds?;)

As far as the background.....I agree with you.....it would have been nice to have some mixed colors in the background. When taking the shots, I never even thought about that.

Again.....my thanks to all of you who've commented on this series. I appreciate all the nice comments, and also the constructive criticism......Mike
