yay for apple. i sport a MacBook Pro.

so phocal...what;re you plannin to do with your Mark IIn?

at sporting events, having two fast focusing fast shooting bodies with different lenses hanging off of them was always a priority of mine. so mission accomplished in that regard. depending on the venue, i usually go in with either the 600 and 100-400 on different bodies or the 100-400 and 70-200 mounted. hopefully i'll end up with many more keepers than i have been getting in the past. i need all the confidence i can muster as i'm just not that good and not that experienced to go to a shoot without worrying about screwing things up, so the new body will help in that regard.

Sorry to hear about the bad lens...that bites when something like that happens. I was talking about the new cameras being the baby pics. :p I've been an apple person until I started gaming and as you know, the limited software moved me to PC full time. Now I'm finished (I hope) gaming and using less of that type of software, I'm at Mac. The new leapord OS is coming soon but I couldn't wait for my PC to break down again. I also got a killer deal on this one from the NEX @ $1050 for the 20in. I had a 15% scratch card discount! :D

eh, i ain't too sad about what happened. i got other toys to play with.

as for gaming, well, i still get involved a bit as my son is into it. usually on weekends my son invites his friends to come over and play on this four pc LAN i got set up in one room. i get a kick out of watching them whoop and holler over fragging each other with all the volumes ampped up and everything. they really like FPS's alot so i usually get those. besides, gaming with the kids keeps my motor/dexterity skills as good as this tired old body of mine can get, which ain't saying much.:p

yeah, that leopard OS sounds really good. maybe before you fully integrate the mac into your routine you should set up a dual boot arrangement and try one of the leaked leopard beta's to see if you like it or not?

and hey no fair on the scratch card. all i ever got was 10% off. you got a scanner that can read through the scratch foil or what?

hey, come over to my house and we can look at each other's baby pics....got a few days to look them over?;)

i haven't begun to scan all those pics i've taken over the years of my kids because every time i look at the pile the feeling of being overwhelmed washes over me and i always manage to find some other more pressing task to be "overwhelmed" with, (like taking more pics and making the pile even bigger), not to mention all those vhs and beta tapes i've been meaning to convert over into dvd. ugh.

i've heard of and viewed the imac displays and they are nice. post a pic of your new setup why don'cha?

i was a apple addict way back when i got fed up with my commodore 64's tiny display and no hard drive and bought my first one of steve jobs' creations.

i really loved my apple IIe although i had to install my own hard drive, which held a whopping 50 megabyte disk. wow.

so congrats on that and your spank'in new 30d.

btw, i received and sent back the sigma 10-20 lens i was so eager about. i'm getting it exchanged for another one as the one i initially got had focusing and sharpness issues. hope the next one is ok.

That sucks, well hopefully youre next one is sharp.

A first for me too. I usually get the 5% and was expecting that. If you buy an Apple product at the NEX, have them call the Apple store at Ala Moana to match the Military discount there. The iMacs were 6% off retail.

cool. i just show my UHM ID and i get student discount. too bad its only once a year on certain stuff. So what are you using for organizing your photos? I attended an Aperture seminar a couple of months ago, where Mike Colon spoke. Pretty cool stuff. still...getting a 20" for that deal. smooth. i wanted a 17" MBP but couldn't afford it. Esp since my Powerbook got obliterated.

Get your dad to buy it at the NEX and you don't have to pay GE tax. I am trying to get lightroom and CS3 for Mac at this time.

I recieved a Sigma 10-20 from B&H last month.....images were soft .. I sent it To Sigma for repair/calibration via UPS, they recieved the lens the 22nd of May. I never heard zip from them...So I called this morning to get status... was told they were waiting for a part from Japan and said it may be finished in a week or so and on the way back to me. You would have thought that they would have sent a email saying they got it ! and not keep me in suspense, But now I have some peace and knowing the soft pictures were not due to the person behind the camera makes me feel better..

btw .. nice ride you got there G35Driver

would nex match student discount? idk...i dont like some of the reps there...this one guy i saw was lying to a couple about the iMacs. The lady said she wanted a MB cause she liked the maglock charger...the guy assured her that they had the maglock on the iMac. He was also lying about some other stuff. i later mentioned to the couple that he was worng, and he confronted me about it. I threatened to talk to his boss about it.

on a different note, have you used lightroom? What do you think of it? CS3 at UHM is like 200$ for the premium. I think im gonna pick it up after my next pay check.

nice treatment there linkzi. it's got "mood".

i'm assuming you used a tripod for this shot? did you attract a crowd of curious onlookers while you were setting up the shot?;)

i've never took a shot in those conditions before. so, me being the "experimenter" that i am, i guess i gotta see if i can do that too.

you see what you're doing to me? now i gotta go out in the middle of the road in front of my house and risk getting runned over and confirm to my neighbors what they suspected all along: that short fat fella out in the middle of the street with all that camera gear is a coupl'a quarts short and gots way too much time on his hands to get himself in all kinds of goofy trouble.:p
