Interesting--15.1 MP, face detection mode and digic 4.

Yup, Digic III came out recently, now Digic IV, just WOW!

Better ISO handling? looks like a Nikon D300 with higher Mpixel.

I don't see more AF points... still 9...

COOL! Now the price on the 40D will drop soon.

Can't wait to see some pictures taken with the 50D. I'm glad the 50D is staying with CF cards instead of going to SD like the XSi and XS.

:) Chris

Glad they kept the CF format.

Yeah, the ISO 12800 looks interesting--wonder how it'll be and definitely wondering what the price will look like. I don't expect one series AF, but I'm thinking that it'd be nice to have a middle ground somewhere. It also has an HDMI output for HDTV. Things are definitely getting interesting.

Not Yet, but I would guess close to $2000. - EDIT: around $1300

Just looking over the Canon cameras, Nikon is way ahead as for specifications... hope the new 5D will come close to expectations.

Aiea Loop/Ridge trail? He had a cell phone and we contacted him and he directed us to him. He was on the Ridge trail. Extracted him with the net, escorted with a rescuer and brought him to the heiau. He was fine on the trail, just scared with no flashlight or water.

ic, so u guys used the helicoptor to get him out?
you know whats messed up, when i went to the house in the front, where the guy that watches the park lives.. rite when i got there, the friend of the lost hiker was there too, to tell the guy that his friend was lost , the guy replied like "you gotta be kidding me.. you know how much **** we got to deal with rite now.. we got some crybabies crying about yellow water and now we gotta deal with this ****" ,, i thought that was totally messed up...
the crybabies he was talking about was the boyscouts... the bathroom at the camp site was pouring out nothing but nasty yellow water from the sinks/shower... which i think would be a valid complaint thats needed to get fixed

I already voted for the contest. Only 4 entries out of 10 participants and no prize. Not too motivating without a prize.

for me.. i dont care if theres a prize or not, hopefully when im back in japan.. ill have more time... i cant win prizes anyways while im up there

Then why didn't you enter this time. I think we should discuss why we were short on entries in this contest. I think people put it off because it wasn't simple and moderator did not remind contestants. You need to consistantly remind people or it will be forgotten.

Photomatix is the program he used to "tonemap" the combined exposures.

yea this is what happened... when i did remember.. i was already working every single day 12hrs a day... no day to walk around to do anything....
everytime i checked flickr.. the flick group for this wouldnt come on top or say anything about 'new' , so i didnt see it on top my group list.. i guess i just payed alot more attention to the hawaii flickr meetup group , and totally forgot about the contest group..
for the july contest.. the group would always come up top and would show theres a 'new' post in it.. so i would always be checking it, but for the august.. it jus stays there on the bottom.. going unnoticed..
