Then why didn't you enter this time. I think we should discuss why we were short on entries in this contest. I think people put it off because it wasn't simple and moderator did not remind contestants. You need to consistantly remind people or it will be forgotten..

yeah i blanked on the contest too. meh. sorry guys :-(

been crazy busy as of late, but again thats no excuse.

norris - what do you mean straight from photomatix?

Linkzi wrote in post #6182559 (external link)
Photomatix is the program he used to "tonemap" the combined exposures.

Here is your answer!

That's what I was thinking...school is beginning so people are busy with other things...and that could have been the reason the forum was so dead too.

For the months that have big holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, etc...) it might be a good idea to skip the photo contests since everyone will probably be very busy.

:) Chris

The prize could be also a deciding factor!

If it was monetary value, I bet less people would have forgotten about it.

But this contest is for fun, no matter what, for me this is an opportunity to get better in photography.

Lose or Win does not matter, just the fact to participate and viewing other photogs pix is priceless!

I think we should discuss why we were short on entries in this contest.

Couple of reasons for me. It was partially because "Shadows" took a little more thinking than "Red"--my fish idea popped into my head pretty quickly with "Red," but nothing inspired me for "Shadows." I wanted to be a little more creative, but unfortunately that didn't happen. The other, probably bigger, reason was that for me the weeks leading up to the start of school and the first week of school are my busiest times of the year. This year is actually not bad because I've had a few minutes here and there to breathe (like now), but I'm still way behind on what needs to get done. I definitely want to keep the contests going--prize doesn't matter to me much, I just like having a reason to go out and shoot.

David - Nice shot, very colorful, and interesting architecture!

Zen - I almost forgot about the contest too, luckily Chris reminds it, and also had a shot from the Hawaiian Railway that I could use for it lol

I was looking at your Flickr page earlier and saw those tin can creations...pretty impressive stuff. Pearlridge Uptown?

Are you a student or part of the administration?

I'd like to keep the photo contests going too. Having to think about the theme and then how to shoot it is helping to push me creatively.

:) Chris

At first I was pretty excited about the challenge of "shadows". The first theme of "red" made it easier because the subject was quite open to different interpretations.

Personally for me, I had to prepare myself for my week long "business" trip to Pennsylvania so the contest was not on the top of my to-do list. I also was busy putting together a slideshow for my dad's Kanreki (60th b-day). I still look forward to more contests though ;)
