The Umbrella and light stands are very compact. This photo was used from the Strobist website. It is the one on the right next to the cameras.

if so.. whats the difference?

I think it is just people that don't know what the "G" stand for in GND filter. The G really stands for graduated:

I did a seach on that MPE-65 lens...Wow! That lens is the top tier in Macro.

yeah it doesn't feel heavy enough to warrant needing a tripod ring.
