light differences

I'm looking at softboxes and I was wondering if anyone can tell me the differences in light between a standard softbox and a octobox?

4 sides and 8 sides. I think you also see the big difference in the catch lights.

Is that the only difference? Just the catchlights? Seems like there would be some major differences or reasons to use one over another.

Merely catchlight difference, assuming the same amount of softbox area for both square or octagonal box!

IMHO, a square catchlight at least mimics an open window in appearance and therefore is somewhat 'natural' in the surroundings, whereas an octabox catchlight merely looks like an umbrella (yuck) which never appears if a photographer is not present!
