I know alien bees makes a 22" dish for the strobes, but are there any other brands to look at that will fit?

Im really curious to see what I can acheive with a beauty dish, but the example over the internet are pretty limmited.

Last thing to do it just try one for myself.

I believe you can make your own... here is a tutorial I found somewhere on the net http://www.diyphotography.net/its_raining_diy_beauty_dishes (external link)

this has nothing to do with the AB's but looks facinating

Thanks for the reply,

ive seen plenty of DIY but really don't want to spend the time on it, need something professional for use onsite and that will maintain resale should I ever have to sell it.

This is another good DIY but not the route I am looking to take.

True... but if you're like me and have no money to spend on studio gear then DIY is definately the way to go. There are so many different projects people have put together and they do work (well at least they say they do) I'm not much of a portraiture photographer but when I am asked, I try to stick to the outdoors, In my personal opinion you can't beat natural light.

Good luck in finding what you need

Here's a discussion on the Paul C Buff forum about beauty dishes and grids. Paul mentions that Speedotron's will work: http://www.paulcbuff.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=283 (external link)

Beauty dishes are made to fit individual strobes, so it would have to be either a AB reflector or a Balcar, which would be much more expensive. The above AB forum post referred to using a Speedotron grid on an AB reflector, rather than using a Speedo reflector on an AB light. The AB reflector is about as cheap as they come.

Sorry about the misinformation. Thanks for clearing it up.
