Just got the Megaplus outfit. Nicely made, and the kit from dcprodirect.com was priced on the very low side. The camera/lens case is a bit funky, and I won't be using it, but it was a throw-in anyway afaiwc.

Anyway, just wanted to ask others about focussing with the tele converter. The Tiffen is 2x, and I notice that it doesn't focus, even with macro focus on, within 3-4 feet! Focusses well at longer distances, but I can't get close at all. Is this a feature of converters (since this is the first I've ever tried, on any camera)?

thanks,

Hi,

I am no expert, but I do have a B-300 and have used it quite a lot.

My experience has found that you can not get a closer picture than before but you can get it from a further distance.

Be sure to use the Macro focus when you are close. I would bet with your outfit you will need this for less than 3 feet from the subject.

Also, someone else turned me on to using filters between the lensmate and the B-300. I have used the +4 and it allowed me to get a focus on subject from about 20" minimum, with the MACRO focus on.

A little expermentation is required to see what it will do.

On the positive, it changes the depth of field in a positive way, for me at least. An it really changes the background on the long shots.

Take lots of pictures. Post some of your findings. I have picked up some pointers from your posts. Hope this might serve as some repayment.
