I have the S3 IS right now, and I'm torn on keeping it or upgrading to the XTi. I would like to use the dSLR but I'll for sure miss the 12x zoom unless I buy some long lenses. What I would like to know is if anyone is interested in buying and what you think my S3 is worth. I've had it less than a year and used it fairly often. It may have a few small scuffs but works perfectly. Also have a 1gig card, adapter tube, lens hood, and can probably include an almost brand new hoya Pro circular polarizer for a little more.

thanks for any suggestions or opinions.

Just my opinion, but I would keep it and still buy the XTi. I think the nice small size would be nice for a "carry all" type camera. The S3 is heavy enough on it's own carrying that around places like the zoo or when you are sight seeing. Do you really want to carry around the SLR to places like that? I know if I ever up grade I will still keep my S2 for instances like I stated and for family events and such. Just something to think about is all. Good luck with your choice.

Yeah...I have both, mainly because at concerts they don't let you take in SLR's. Also, you can't beat the video on it 'cause you won't get that on an SLR and if you don't have some kind of camcorder. I have the Slingshot and in the bottom is my 20D and in that top pocket is my S3. There are just times. Unless you really need the money to put towards an SLR then keep it. Also, consider the XT 'cause for money it's just as good. At least I like it as much. I don't think it's that much better personally and you can get an XT on here from $400-$500.

Sure you could sell it. Prices new run from $300-$350 except for some really great deals.

I think Cindi is right on with her comment. You have an excellent camera with the S3. There will be times you'll miss it if you should sell it. Congratulations on your future XTi purchase.

I agree with those above. The S3 will be a great camera. I miss it if I leave the house without it. :(

Congrats though! I will one day venture the dSLR route. Just...not until the kids are done school, etc....hrm...30yrs to go!!

To have both would sure lighten the load in the saddlebags (no money) leaving room for a camera in each. It would be great if we all could do that financially.

the xti has been ordered, and the S3 is for sale!

I would keep them both if i needed them, but my work supplies me with a pretty much endless supply of Nikon P&S cameras, even if they are crap, they'll do the job in a pinch
