So in a few months I'll be getting to spend a bit of money on my addicition/hobby. Trying to make a decision which direction do I go. Sell everything and buy Minolta? JK. actually FF or 1.6.

The deal is I have a 300D, 17-40, 70-200 4, 24 2.8 and 85 1.8.
I'd like the better sensor of the 5D and its other advantages. Thing is I lack a FF normal lens so a 24-105 (or 28-135 if that doesn't look bad on a 5) would also be necessary.

So option 1 - $3700 - 5D and 24-105

Course the lenses count just as much so getting 30D and some of the glass I've had my eye on is the second option.

Option 2 - $3800 - 30D, 10-22, 50 1.4, 70-200 2.8IS

(this would also free up my well used 70-200 4 to sell and get some other bits).

I guess another way of putting it is, great camera and good lens, or good camera and great lenses?

Use wise its mostly personal/family stuff, a bunch of nature/landscape, some sports, a few wedding and portraits. Nothing to any extent that it defines the body I need.

Any which way, just interested in opinions/experience from anyone who cares to give it. :)

I am biased but I would go with option 1. I would consider the 24-70 rather than the 24-105 since you already have a 70-200 to cover the lost FL..

I like option 1 but it realy depends on how you shoot. The 5D & 24-105 is a great walk around set up. If you carry all your gear with you option 2 maybe? Tough choice.

I rarely carry everything, 3 seems to be my standard, even when I had more lenses than the 5 I have now (forgot to mention, got a lens baby too). So I don't feel the need for a single do everything lens, but at the same time having nothing between 40 and 70 may be annoying. I don't mind the idea of gaps but thats a bit of a badly placed gap to have on a FF. Hence the comment about getting a 24-105 or similar.

I would say option 1 since you noted that you rarely carry all your gear with you. Although the lenses you mentioned in option 2 are pretty tempting. Tough call.
