Im looking at the 35L and 135L as possible purchases but wanted to know if they had weather sealing?

I was thinking on getting a Mark II 1Dn or Mark III when it comes out and wanted to see if this is a feature that would help the "push" into getting one of these lenses now.

Nice combo, I am going to have 30 and 135 as my walk around combo. Selling my 85.

No sealing, but worth getting if you can afford them. Simply amazing lenses.

I use my 35L, 85, 135L and 200L in the rain all the time with my 1D by adding a B&W filter and stretching an automotive O-ring over the end of the lens and rolling it into the joint after the lens is installed.

VERY impressive and thanks for the tip!

If you have a link to the o-rings you are using please let me know.

I wish Canon would just address the issue of water sealing with all the high end primes. It cant cost that much to do, and really adds to the overall function of the setup.

Have you had VERY good results using the o-rings? I plan on taking the 1D camera into the snow for snowboarding. Im sure its going to get wet.

The automotive O-rings are standard over-the-counter and available at any auto parts store for $1.00 US.
The material diameter is 0.138 inch and the O-ring is 2.25 inch.
My initial test was a day in the rain, while I fished the camera sat on the bank.

That is very ingenious.

I thought the new 85L MKII was weather sealed. No?

I'll run in and test it personally :)

Actually, no it's not, and the O-rings and filter do not work because it does not focus internally.

It's still a great lens and you are still a BRAT!!!!!!!!!!

While that might help keep water out of the body, if the lens itself isn't weather sealed, you'll be getting water into the lens itself. Considering it has a lot of sensitive electronics and precision motors, I wouldn't be taking those lenses into the rain.
