I was wondering if it would be a problem for people to post the camera, lens, and av/tv info when posting pictures. I think that would help people not only get a better idea of av/tv useage in situations, but for people looking for a new lens, they can get a better idea of what to expect from the lens or camera. Is that a good idea or not?

Yeah, but you can also look at the EXIF info. Most of the time, it's still intact.

Plus, we already have threads listing pictures that people took with particular lenses.

Sebastien's right- get an exif viewer and you'll be happy.

if you use firefox, try FxIF (do a good search) I use it, just right click on a picture and select properties and bingo. if the data is there it will pick it up.

I use Opanda with firefox it's great; back to the OPs question Would it be a problem to post the Exif info? honestly yes it would be. I leave all the info intact in my photos so it would just be a PITA for me to post it again when most people that care about such things have an exif viewer anyway.

I have Opanda, but, on occasion, I get a "No EXIF data available" message. I don't know if this is a result of "save for web" or something else, but, on those occasions, knowledge of the EXIF would be beneficial.

Not necesarely. Many strip of exif information. Especially when using attachments to display them.

And I always use save for web so none of my photos contain exif information.

But this topic has been up so many times before. Some like the info some don't. Some even think the info is useless. I would suggest if the exif info is not available then just ask the member about it.

I always use 'save for web' in CS2, this does strip EXIF info, but I usually include basic details in the text of the post, like camera, lens and exposure details.

A EXIF viewer will often bring back results. If not, then a simple question will often bring the answer.
