Well the other day my SD400 took a bit of a fall. Afterwards the screen worked and I could scrool through pictures ect, but the lens wouldn't pop outm I just got a few beeps.

I looked around online and found it was probably knocked out of alignment/dirty. I cracked it open (not the first time, had to replace the screen a while back) and started to carefully take it apart. I seperated the lens assembly and cleaned it out as much as I could then tried to reseat or pop the lens back into alignment by slightly pushing on it and turning it. I think it made a poping noice like its suppose to if when it pops into alignment but it could have been my imagination.

Anyways I put it back together, went together good but of cource theres a few screws left over  I put the battery in and mem card and go to turn it on and nothing. Check the battery, getting 3.4V out of it and try it in another identical camera and works fine.

So now its laying here in pieces, took it back apart to see if I forgot a connection. I didn't find one that wasn't connected so I dunno what to do with it.

Are there any secrets to getting these ribon wires back in there or do they just slide in when the flap is up?

ANY help is appreciatd.

You might want to get a magnifier and a bright light and try again. I ran into a similiar thing and found that I actually put one of the ribbon cables under the connector (between it and the circuit board). It fit nice and tight and I thought I had it, but I didn't. Also make sure it seated all of the way in and straight. It if is crooked some of the contacts might not make a good electrical connection.

Good Luck
