Took two weeks off from work to travel round the SI of New Zealand. Tried to get some different shots than other times I've been round.

One of the most photographed trees in New Zealand. On the shores of Lake Wanaka. No signs of Shania though.

The very top of Fox glacier. It may look over sharpened but it's not. Straight from the camera.

Just outside Franz Joseph township was a lake (sorry forget name). The morning sun was just warming up the water and making it very misty. Thought a b+w would suit it.

Some fungi on Rabbitt Island near Nelson.

The World of Wearable arts has some crazy fashion styles. Most very creative. It also has a car museum.

The road to Aoraki (Mount Cook) was filled with golden grasses. Mount Cook however was overcast. Made a great pic.

would the lake you are looking for be Tekapo (pronounced Tech-a-pour) ???

EDIT: Actually now I think about it, Tekapo is the wrong end more like Lake Mapourika Click here for a map (external link) thats just out of Franz Joseph (pronounced Ma-pour-ree-car)

Great shots. I'd love to get back down there again.

Your last shot looks VERY similar to my shot here:

20 second shutter speed, taken 2-3 hours after sunset - yes, that's the full moon. ;)

Very nice, looks like you got to more places in your 2 weeks, than the 2 weeks we spent down there a few years back. Mind you we did have to drive another coupla days from this end of the country. Presume you took more than just the one shot of the glaciers?

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

I think it's Lake Paringa. My brain was a little fuzzy after the backpackers partied all night and half the morning and kept half of Franz Joseph awake.

20 second shutter speed, taken 2-3 hours after sunset - yes, that's the full moon. ;)

Snap...photos like that are superb. A guy in work showed me one of the Grand Canyon taken after midnight with a full moon. Just looked like daylight. I'll dig out my half an hour star trail from Lake Tech-a-pour.

I have to rant about the friggin tourists. Tekapo...most picturesque Church. Coach stops, unload about 50 japanese tourists. Female poses in front of the door. All the other party wait until snaps are finished. Another western tourist waits patiently until it all finishes, lifts the camera to his face and the other 48 tour party swarm all over the church like wasps round a jam pot. Slowly they disperse. Just as the last tour party are disappearing round a corner, another coach load turn up. Cue the whole scene over again. You could see him get very frustrated.

Me in the Marlborough Sounds. Get on a boat for a cruise round the sound. About 20 of us sit on the top deck with a 360 degree view. Quite lovely. That was until another 20 came up top and stood around the edge. Now I had a 360 degree view of people.
Fast forward to Moaraki. Wanted a couple of shots of the boulders. There were three people there when I turned up. Two females and a little kid in a pink shell suit. Little kid stood on the middle boulder for about twenty minutes waving and screaming at the two females. I gave up and started walking away, kid jumped off and I started walking back. That was until a party of about 20 French people turned up and about half of them decided they were going to stand on the boulders. Sometimes I despair.

Probably took more of the glaciers than anything else. That image doesn't do the real image justice. The shrunken quality ruins it. It's going on the wall A3.

No not yet. We went passed ChCh on Monday so it would have been shut. I'll get one soonish. I was going to stay in Dunners for an extra night (tonight) and go to the Highlanders v Crusaders and then follow the rally but we decided to come home. Saw a very limping James Ryan in the BP on George Street. Hope he had an automatic.

I see my pronunciation is quite useful to some.
