Hi all

What do you think of this? And how can I improve it?

I really like the shot and the colours are excellent, however I might even think about removing the bird and give the whole shot a greater feeling of size (i.e. given the size of the bird the tree cant be nearly as big as I though before seeing the bird). Either way its a great photograph.

In this case I think the bird is a distraction, as it doesn't add to the overall beauty of the image.

I like it better without the bird.....but feel bad because you titled the shot 'Bluebird in tree' and now we've made you take it out :D

Unfortunately, yes, the bird just seemed too small and blurry, colors and textures are wonderful!

I like the picture a lot with or without the bird. In fact, I had to scan the image for several seconds to even notice the bird. I certainly don't think the bird detracts from the image though.

Is that a bristlecone pine? Is it in southern Utah or northern Arizona?

BTW what lens and settings did you use?

Thanks for all your comments guys. It looks like the bird may have to go!

Gooble - thanks for that. I don't know whether it's a bristlecone pine (it could well be), but I can tell you that the picture was taken in Canyonlands, Utah (so your guess was almost spot on then!). The exposure was 1/200 @f/10 at ISO 400 and, if I remember correctly, a CPL was used. The lens I used was the 17-85 kit lens, although I have now changed that for a 24-105 f/4L

Still can't see the bird in the original. Oh well, it's a beautiful picture.
