If (while still in the collection) you select PHOTO from the menu, a drop down will appear, select DELETE REJECTED PHOTO or you can use the keboard shortcut CTRL+BACKSPACE.

Thanks! Does that delete the images or just remove them from LR?

Edit.. just seen Rick's post./.. I'm after deleting them completely...

There are a lot of shortcuts that aren't documented in the LR Help though, such as "D" in Library brings you into Develop, "A" in Develop toggles the Crop aspect ratio lock, etc.

ho ho ho!.. more things to discover;) :D

thanks for those:D

Micheal Tapes says that 'alt-1,2,3' etc toggles between modules

it doesn't:o

What it does is set keywords:evil: ;)

Mac Dual PPC + 10.4.9

anyone else checked out what the keystrokes for toggling betwen the modules does???

You've probably found these by now (assuming that your computer - along with your copy of Lightroom hasn't been slung out the window already!)

... so incase your still interested (and for those that didn't know)

[Ctrl] + [Alt] + 1 gets you to the Libarary module
[Ctrl] + [Alt] + 2 gets you to the Develop module
[Ctrl] + [Alt] + 3 gets you to the Slideshow module

(you getting the hang of this?)

and [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [Up Arrow] takes you back to the previous module.

Hope that makes sense.

While we are on the subject of modules.... anyone else have any difficulty setting the "Text" to overlay over the top of a slideshow display.

You should be able to simply click the "ABC" icon below the photo display, then click the arrow to the left of the text edit box that appears, then select what type of text to overlay during the slideshow.

I've found, on occasions, the drop-down menu doesn't stay on-screen for more than a split second -so I can't get at any of the options. Doesn't seem to do it all the time, and if I change to another module, then come back, it's ok for a while.

Anyone else see this?

OK so I want to apply a preset to 20 shots ina quick collection just to see whether they generally would benefit from tis trewtment as a group: they are already in library so I can't set the preset on import without reimporting them all. but when I gointo develop it only shows me one pick at a time - I can't get them all up to apply preset to all

what am I doing wrong - or can't that be done???

EDIT: DOH! I had to click on the icon to et back to grid view... aaagh my head wasn't made for computers!

Should be as easy as....

While in the Library module, select "Quick collection" (so only shots in this collection show)

Press [Ctrl] + [A] to select all.

Over on the right hand side bar, select the "Quick Develop" section.

The top item in here is "Preset"

Click the drop-down and select the preset you want applied.

Takes a few seconds to work but you should find that all your pics now have the selected preset applied.

Good, yes?

AGH! nope that's not right - that choice from the menu taking me back to 'Library Grid'

pressing 'G' in develop mode takes me back to library

I can't seem to get grid view in develop mode???

Pretty certain you can't

Why do you need a grid view in the "develop" mode? You can apply the settings to multiple pics then simply scroll through them to check. Actually grid-mode would be too small for "developing" photo's - wouldn't it?

You could just select the photo's you want to work on and put them into a "Quick Collection" and work on them that way.

Anyone know how to create another copy of an image in Lightroom? Ok I get that its supposed to filter and prevent multiple copies, which can be switched off on import to bring multiple copies in.
But, all the images I have processed and saved are organised into folders on my hard drive in a structure that makes sense for online galleries, when I get it updated. So, I have galleries organised by genre, location etc, but for ease of browsing there will be another called favorites.....these will have images copied into that folder.
In lightroom I dont want to move an image to another folder, I want to copy it to another. It seems this cant be done?? oooooooh problem.
The only way I can figure is to copy into my watched folder, but even doing this copy means doing it outside of lightroom. Aaaaarg

You simply don't need another "copy" in Lighroom, just create a "collection" of your favourites. That way you only have one copy to worry about.

Thanks TJ, but are collections written to the hard drive, or are they virtual in Lightroom only.

I do need multiple copies, because the prog I will use to create the website will not include the image if it isnt written to the hard drive in the right location.

Sorry Phil, collections are only stored (as pointers) inside the Lightroom database.

... In which case I think you would have to copy the image (outside lightroom) intoi the folder of your choice, then "import from it's current location"...

or, maybe import the files within lightroom by selecting the image in it's existing folder, then "copy to new location".

Either way you would then have two copies in different places.

My only worry there is the fact that any editting/processing would have to be done to BOTH files. I take it you still want to access BOTH files from within Lightroom? - so you couldn't make any changes to the original, then EXPORT it to you favourites folder?

TJ yes I appreciate that editing would be a headache, but these are finished images and hopefully I wont have to change them at all.

I thought about imorting and copin to new location, but it seems for what I want to do its going to be quite laborious. I think Im just gonna have to do it in explorer ( i can have two windows open and drag and drop with ease, copy paste etc) then update Lightroom.
Another thing is renaming an image, not as easy as right clicking, so again looks like this has to be done outside Lightroom, as the process to rename a single image is a pain.
