It won't ever have that will it, as it only references folders AFAIU not actually changing them???

Despite all the hoopla and everyone going gaga for Lightroom, it still needs some work. It is a very nice app, but far from finished (then again is any software ever finished?). Hopefully Adobe will provide some "fixes for some of the issues mentioned, without users having to upgrade for some of the things mentioned above.

As for me, DPP continues to give me the colors I like, despite its many drawbacks, and without asmuch tweaking as I've had to do in Lightroom.

Still, I do covet that "recovery" tool in Lightroom :).

I agree, it has some work to do.
dot version upgrades, (1.1, 1.2, etc) usually do get provided to users without extra charge, and generally Adobe release new full version, what, every 2-3 years right? But I felt it is on the right track, at least, and that recovery tool is GREAT considering how poor a job DPP does in that regard. I didn't want to realize 6 months from now that they addressed the major issues and I'd missed out getting it at a good price (only a couple more weeks and price jumps from $199 to $299!)

My hope is that whenever version 2 comes out, that we get upgrade pricing... but that's so far down the road, I'm not even worried about that yet... we have yet to see what add-on modules developers will come out with, and I'm hoping a few enterprising individuals even offer some for free! Maybe even a module to drag and drop files between folders!!! Who knows?

I wish it had better sharpening so I wouldn't have to export to PS and then finish off from there.

My Canon can.. I just need to find out how

You can move files by highlighting them and then right clicking on the folder where you want them to go. Can't drag stuff from my experiments. If you can, please let me know.

Yes you can. In the Library module make sure you have the Folders panel expanded. Then in grid mode highlight your files that you wish to move. Drag them to the folder that you would like them moved to. VoilĂ . It is that easy.

That's just the folders you've imported from previously, isn't it? (unless I'm missing something here.) Are you able to drag-and-drop to ANY folder on your hard-disk?

you could make a new folder on the hard drive and move them to it without importing any photos to it, but how often do you move folders around on your hard drive? developing a consistent system is key

Well no, not ANY folder. They do have to be folders imported into LR.

Show all files in folder, ie RAW+JPEG.
Auto stack based on filename minus extension.
Edit in photoshop without creating the file (work like ARC).
Auto scan folders for added/removed files.

It knows removed files. The folder will appear in red if the files have been moved/removed/deleted.

I know that it will tell you the files are missing, but I think it checks only on startup. Now you can manually tell it to check as well. I'd like to configure lightroom to auto add/remove images from the database, if the file is gone just remove it.
