I know that it will tell you the files are missing, but I think it checks only on startup. Now you can manually tell it to check as well. I'd like to configure lightroom to auto add/remove images from the database, if the file is gone just remove it.

that would be very problematic for people that keep images on external hard drives and such. and if it constantly monitors your drives then its just sucking up more memory. Who manually moves images around? Just do it all from within LR, thats the point of a DAM;)

I'd be happy with just an option I can enabled. I move files around in other applications, LR is the only program I used to work with my images. Picasa works like this, you can set folders to scan once or scan always.

A true DAM would be aware of where your assets are, no matter if you moved them external to LR or not. And the previous poster is right. Picasa, and others, already do this.

Fear not, I'm sure Adobe will add that feature sooner or later.

LR does know where your stuff is and will always know if you moved it to an external drive, if you move the files within LR. But, Corey was mentioning the fact that many photogs use external drives that are not always connected to the computer. But they can plug them in, point to the database and voilĂ .

Well aware of that fact. The point is, that if you move a file EXTERNALLY, that is to say, via Windows Exploder or other file manipulator, Lightroom will NOT know where it is until you tell it to look. Whereas, if LR had the option for you to tell it to scan a specific folder periodically on its own. it could then keep track of things by itself.

Watched folders is a bit different to what your earlier post implied which is somehow keeping track of externally moved files anywhere...

The Web module could have plenty more added in a wish-list to handle some more cosmetic output - too much to mention I guess.. but here are a few of mine so far:

- More customisation
- e.g. The ability to 'centre align' thumbs in the grid (or 'left align' or 'right align' accordingly) e.g. sometimes if there is one stray line with just one thumb on it - lets say 4 thumbs in a 3x3 grid, this one stray last thumbnail will be pushed to the LEFT in the grid matrix style galleries - this is annoying. I would prefer to have more control in LR as opposed to using HTML afterwards to rectify.

- The ability to have images open in 'new windows' and thus keeping the grid open in the background; In addition to this a 'close' button could be added to close the open picture thus reverting to the grid again.

- 'watermark' customisation, etc. etc.

- The abilty to crop the thumbs to SQUARE even if the image [when opened] is another orientation (e.g. portrait/rectangle). This makes things neater...

I think this is a "must have" - I need to be able to position/size the watermark rather than just accept that it will be "Bottom left" - small font.

Shouldn't be too difficult for them considering it's almost the same coding as placing the ID plate on printed pics. :D

Is anyone doing anything with this Wishlist, e.g. like sending this link, or list to Adobe? Anyone got a contact there?

LR needs a module that will cook us all breakfast in the morning as well. ;)

Seriously, I can't think of anything else I could want as far as an additional module goes (beyond some of the more sensible things that have already been mentioned). As someone mentioned, it would be nice to be able to create and customize borders and watermarks. I can potentially see that as being its own module. Let's see, we have the Library (importing and browsing), Develop (RAW processing), and then Slide Show, Web and Print. Pretty much this is all we do with digital images. All the extra "fluff" is done in photoshop. I would definitely like to see some features tweaked such as sharpening, noise reduction, and other filters we typically use in photoshop, but for the most part I'm pretty happy with LR as is. And I know there's plenty of room for it to grow and be refined, so that's what makes the app. even more exciting. I like surprises, so let's kick back and see what Adobe or third party companies offer in the way of improving what's already a great product. ;)

off the top of my head...

soft proofing with printer profiles;
an import that works, more flexible renaming system;
the ability to zoom out beyond 1:4;
vignetting that works from the new edges after a crop;
sharpening preview on magnifications other than 1:1;
more flexibility with renaming/moving files after import;

all in all it's pretty great as is.

It does - what more do you need?

more flexible renaming system;

Isn't it? :confused:

the ability to zoom out beyond 1:4;

what on earth for?

more flexibility with renaming/moving files after import

Can you be more specific? You can custom rename and move between folders.... what else do you need?
