I noticed that Lightroom added another instance of apdproxy to the startup tab once I upgraded. Now that I've unchecked that one it seems (after one reboot) like I finally got rid of the downloader.

Just like to point out that the same happens with 1.2 upgrade. Wish LR could sense that it's switched off when you upgrade.

In Lightroom, go to Edit / Preferences ...

Under the Import tab, deselect the option "Show import dialog when a memory card is detected"
