Lumix FZ7 or F7Z something like that. Great camera. Does everything well. Insane zoom and IS, is a great combination. Wife has a Casio, It's always in her purse. Great camera also. Now that I think about it, it's pretty darn hard to get a bad camera these days.

Yes. Went digital in early 2001 with a 1.3 MP ( ! ) Fuj MX1200 as a shirt-pocket notebook. It was an accompaniment to my Canon A-1 stable of bodies and FD lenses. I was not impressed. I warmed in 2005 with a Canon A510 (3.2MP) which went to my son in 2006 when I bought an A700. That's when I realised that digital was growing up and led to my 5D purchase in August 2007. I still carry the A700 everywhere in stealth mode - no riduculous fake shutter clicks and beeps . . .

As a sidenote, the bug bit - my son quickly moved to a G7 and is now contemplating a move to a 50D; he wants to plunder my lens collection!

Yes, an Olympus Mju 1030SW (shock proof and waterproof to 10 metres). I can take it where my DSLR can't go and it's obviously much smaller as well.
