I went to the track around 90 min away and shot some Ferrari taking practice laps.

I got alot of blurry shots as it was my first time shooting car race as well as trying to learn panning. :o

A few decent shots out of many bad ones. I suck...need more practice.

the first two shots--especially the first--are very well done. i particularly like the way the cars fit compositionally with the background. Panning with a 300mm does take practice, but that's why they made so many Ferraris. Nicely done and i wish i'd been there to listen to the motors.

Thanks John,

You're right, panning with long lens is tough. I wonder how those guys did it so well with the 500mm :)

Oh yeah, the sound of those engines were awesome. :D

Some more static shots of the FXX

Yeah Ben, those FXX are amazing vehicles. I didn't hear their engines on Friday but it must have been awesome.

I wasn't sure but I saw an old man there and someone said he's the owner of the FXX.

Chat a bit with the crew there and they are all Italian.

The FXX race was awesome. There were about 5 or 6 of them (can't remember) and they were L O U D!!! Good loud...grumbly, sputtery, growling loud. :) Especially in the garage during the tests, that was crazy.

Funny thing was I thought the FXX was supposed to be super rare, but they had enough to stage a race. :)

Sonny, what track was this?

Stefan, it's Infineon Raceway in Sonoma. I think it used to be called Searspoint.

The FXX's are usually together. Its all a part of the program of ownership.

Great pics in this thread!
