After numerous pushes, nudges, and encouragement from you guys, I ordered the 24-105L and it came here today. I haven't played with it much yet but I am pleased with picking up 4 mm on the wide end and 35mm on the long end. I am hoping to make it my walk around lens.

Included in the same parcel was a Canon EF 300 2.8 L IS. :) I didn't need a push to get that bad boy, just 8 months of saving the money I would have spent on smoking and drinking.

It maxes out my tripod & head & feels great on my monopod. I am going to give my extenders a workout.

Living in the "Land of 10,000 Lakes" it should be easy to find a duck. Whoo Hoo!

It's a real sweet lens that I enjoy using as a walk around on my 5D. It's so versatile; however, I must admit that I am curious about the 24-70L. :)

Mine came yesterday as I was leaving for work. I didn't even have a chance to open it up and play with it. :( It's a beaut isn't it? Congratulations and happy shooting up there!

Thanks Ruffio, I used the code you gave me and saved $100.00 on the 24-105.

Wow! The 300's focus is lightning fast. Even with th 2x it's fast.
My 70-200 2.8 L IS is a slug with the 2x on it.
I just love the way this thing just SNAPS into focus.

Congrats! That's one helluva bill you worked up there. :p

The 300mm f/2.8L IS is about as good as it gets. Ridiculously sharp and the AF is unmatched by anything else on the planet. It shares the same mechanism as the other superteles (400, 500, 600). The lens has seriously evolved over the years since its introduction. Faster. Lighter. Sharper. More expensive... ;)

It's hard to take the 300 off so I can play with the 24-105.

300 2.8L IS, 420 f/4L IS, 600 f/5.6L IS, 840 f/8L IS (and even the last will AF if you have a 1-series). Not bad for $4k.

I'm sorry, Tapeman, but you made an egregious error. You would have been much better off spending your money on drinking and smoking than on new lenses. What a dumb move.

NOT :D

CONGRATS.
