Hey there,

I did a search but couldn't find the answer anywhere. I shoot almost always in RAW and have post-processed in Bridge using the Camera Raw plugin for settings like exposure, WB, shadows, etc...

My question is as follows: When I import the files into Lightroom, the XMP data is not being transferred. That is, the Raw files go back to how they appeared when the came out of the camera. This is a problem for old images only, but I hate to waste all the time I spent post processing...

I belive I have it set so that there is a centralized XMP file as opposed to "sidecar" files. Can I still import the files and maintain my adjustments?

Thanks, Jon

I believe there's a function somewhere in the menus to export the data to xml files, with luck lightroom will pick it up. Try it and see. Please report back so I can add the answer to the RAW FAQ :)

Been using lightroom for a few weeks now, used to use bridge. I imported a few older photos in raw (.CR2) and lightroom picked up the adjustments that I had made in bridge for those photos. So I can confirm that lightroom does it, the only problem is I cant tell you how to do it as it worked without me changing anything.

cheers
Ali

You probably are using sidecar XMP files which Lightroom can see as long as they are in the same folder as the RAW files. The OP was using a centralized location for XMP files so they won't be in the same folder as the RAW files.

If Tim's suggestion doesn't work you might consider converting the files to DNG. This might take some considerable amount of work though. I don't believe the stand alone DNG convertor will see the XMP files and apply the necessary changes. You would most likely have to go folder by folder, open in ACR and export to DNG from there. Unless the Image Processor has DNG as a file output. Then you could batch everything and let the computer do all the work while you are asleep.:)

Hmmm,

Well it looks like its impossible since I don't have the sidecar files. I'll just redo the RAW settings since there is more flexibility in LR anyways.

Is there a way to sync LR on my macbook and my PC?
