The manual that came with my new camera is lacking in detail and I understand there is a more comprehensive user manual online, but whenever I search for this I get sent to some co, in England that charges for the manual.:(
Is it possible to get this online without paying. I would have thought it would be on the CD that came with the camera but I can't find it, although there are quite a few files in japanese on there.

Any help greatly appreciated. I particularly want to put the manual on my Dell Axim PDA so I can read it whilst on a forthcoming expedition.

The camera should have come with 2 manuals, the Basic and the Advanced. If it's not in one or the other of those, it pretty much isn't documented. Canon USA has them for download here (external link). You need to permit pop-ups though.

Thanks for that Jon, I found the file, downloaded, and it opens OK on my PC. I place it in the Synchronied Files folder on the PC and it duly pops into the Axim. However when I try to open the file on the Axim (I have Adobe Reader 2 for PPC) I get this: http://img.photobucket.com …ddd/Skerrayandsuch004.jpg (external link). The page info briefly appear then get obliterated by 'COPY' accross the pages, such that the info can't be read.
This is maybe off-topic at this point, but I'm at a loss to explain this.

Adobe's Reader for PPC's horrendously outdated. Otherwise I'd have all the manuals on my PPC. ISTR they even admit it somewhere; anyway I'm giving up on Adobe.
