I downloaded the trial version of Light Room two days ago, and so far I love it. A very nice upgrade over DPP, but for some reason when ever I print a file straight from raw out of light room, the image comes out desaturated with a green hue...

If I export the RAW file to JPEG, and then print it outside of light room, all is well.

What am I doing wrong...?

are you printing with the correct ICC profile? setting it up in the printer driver so no ICC color management is checked?

Uuuhhh, no clue. Is the ICC profile what medium I'm using? Like luster or premium glossy paper or something? If so, everytime I print I make sure it's on the right one, and in light room under color management it says Profile: Managed by Printer (nothing is checked under other) and Rendering Intent: Perceptual

I have no clue what any of this means.

ok, so you're new to the color maganged printing world.

First figure out the Printer, paper and ink used.
then find the cooresponding ICC profile (the manufacturer has these either on disk or to download.)

in the color management box, instead of managed by printer, select the ICC profile of the printer/paper/ink combo you want to use

then hit print, and in the printer driver, select the correct paper, ink (if neccessary), size, then go into the color or advanced area and select no ICC color management.

then print. confusing I'm sure at first, but this is how you print to match your monitor

But.... if you are using anything other than the printer manufacturers own ink, you can forget everything that's been said!

Then it comes down to Trial & Error.

Yep, and worth it too. I buy ink that meets ISO 9001 specs at about 1/4 the cost of the
manufacturer's brand ink. I did so for my (now gone) Canon 9000s and with my current Epson R2400. Stunning results.

Oh, silly me, of course not.

I bet there aren't many who go out and buy a Continuous Ink System so that they can buy ink in bulk and save MASSIVE amounts of $£ which they can then spend on more equipment! :D

Nice! Overstock.com seems to be a great place to find nice deals. I found R2400 ink for $40 a set, bought two. Takes a few weeks to arrive... but the savings are worth the wait. :D http://www.overstock.com …d=1659680&IID=prod1659680 (external link)

I did as you recommended Corey, and achieved much better results. It's still not on par with what I'm getting from the exported Jpegs though... Strange, but I'm still tinkering with it, hoping I find the propper settings.

I compared the converted Jpegs from DPP to the exported Jpegs from lightrooom though, and found that the light room prints looked far better than the DPP prints. DPP prints came out over saturated. So, an improvement non-the-less, even if I can't print straight from RAW effectively.

thats what the larger printers accomplish and give better, more consistent results in the end:)
