when printing and in the printers color management do I set it at let the application manage color or since I an using adobe rgb do I set it to that?

If you let the application manage color you will need to develop or use a printer profile. In other words, you can do it either way. I decided based on the results I got. If the using the defaults in you printer's driver works well for you then do it. If not then research and develop or find a printer profile and use that.
