Its a book, you can read it in the bath tub, it has binding, a cover, it has smells of nice paper stock and fine ink.... Call me old fashion....

I was given a free copy by my local shop also. Interestingly enough, the shop is also called George's... George's Camera here in San Diego, CA. Problem is, mine is the Third Edition...

This is a very detailed presentation of all Canon lenses, terminology and science. Very recommended reading for all!

Has anyone tried to download these files lately. When I try to download the individual pdf files, I get an "address not found" error. The links to the pdfs take you to software.canon-europe.com

I tried to pull up stats for the site at netcraft.com and came up empty there too. Netcraft knew about the subdomain, but it seems to no longer be working.

The file links themselves come from software.canon-europe.com. The links are working now. I don't know what the problem was before. Maybe Saturday morning maintenance.

i just read this book at my shop...and i've learned almost every lens's advantage/disadvantage​s..

before i read the book, i choose this lens:
EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM

after reading the book :
EF-S 15-55mm f/2.8 IS USM
EF 70-300mm DO IS USM

better get the UD + Asperical lens for better quality...

I have a hard copy of an older version of this book...(back when the 85L v1 was in production).

The weirdest thing, spiders seem to be attracted to it...I had a dead squashed spider under both the front and back flaps

They were relatively small, so I managed to scrap them off by rubbing the book against the carpet (didn't tell my parents)

Sorry I know this is a very odd post, but I thought I'd just warn people to keep their book in a safe place not on the floor under my bed like me

The downloadable copy referenced is listed as September 2006, Eighth edition

However my understanding is that the current 'version' is the Tenth (10th) edition, dated sometime in 2008.

Can anyone confirm that their printed copy is the 10th edition, and where they acquired it from?

Also has anyone found an online copy that is newer then this eighth edition?

I have a canonlens EF 17-85 f/4-5.6 and today, while out shooting some landscape snaps, the lens started to 'Stick' while zooming in and out! I had to rotate the lens several times before it would release. It happened a few times. This is the first day it has happened. Anybody any ideas what is wrong?

How do I do that? I would need a lesson in using the forum before going much further!
