Canon Powershot A60 - power problem

I have a canon powershot A60 - lovely little camera but it has suddenly stopped recognising the fact that it has fully charged batteries in it! Will not turn on at all, however it works fine if plugged into the mains. No obvious problems on battery connections- has not been left with old batteries in it or anything like that.
Does anyone have any ideas if this is a known problem - or if it is worth trying to fix?

Many thanks
Edina

Give it a try with alkalines, just to see if it turns on. If it doesn't turn on then, there's something broken inside and it's probably not worth fixing since for not much more than the repair you can get over 3x the pixels and a wider zoom range nowadays. You'll need to change from Compact Flash to SD cards, but that's about it.
