Beautiful photos. Just when I thought I was set for a while with equipment, a 1.4x teleconverter is on my wishlist now :o

Thanks again, all.

I wish I was in a situation where I could hunker down, get comfortable and prepared, and wait for birds to present themselves to me in good light, on good perches with nice clear backgrounds.

The reality is that I live in an industrialised area of England with precious little in the the way of decent bird photograph opportunities. I'm on the move all the time just to find birds to photograph, and most of my opportunities are "snatched", which doesn't really lend itself to brilliant pictures.

;)

Know what you mean Keith, I have not got any Hides or wildlife reserves within 50 miles. I envy some of these guys that live near one of the top reserves. Like you I am on the move all the time and snatch a shot if I see a bird - somedays I walk for miles without a single shot (times like this when I resort to shooting gulls :) ) Although I live near to the country it seems to me that the birds are more timid than in and around the towns but the walking is good exersize :o

Well yeah, the exercise is good, I guess!

Resorting to shooting gulls doesnt have to be a bad thing, of course:
