Can't upload pics back onto S410

Before I installed the Canon software, I tried to drag the picture files directly into the S410 driver window, but nothing could be copied into it. There is also no Paste option when you right click inside the window. But when I tried to upload using the Zoombrowser, it pops up a message saying that the pic could not be uploaded onto the camera and that it was taken using a different camera(even tho it was downloaded from this very same cam in my hands). So anyone got any ideas?

I'll bet you used software other than Photoshop, or another peice of software that does not save the EXIF data back into the jpg. Because of this two things will happen when trying to reupload thru the zoombrowser.

1) Because loss of Exif, the zoombrowser has no way of knowing what camera took the picture, also the loss of exif, also means you cant use the file to figure out what your shutter speed, aperture, etc, etc were used to shoot the picture.

2) Even if you managed to keep the exif information, you run into the problem of "cannot preview" image once back on the camera, this is because most photo programs do not save as a JPEG2000 compliant image. Typically I'll re-save images using IrFanview.

No, I haven't editted the pics in any way. A pic that was downloaded 2 seconds ago cannot be copied back.

How were the pictures pulled off the camera? You used windowsXP feature, or did you pop the memory card into a card reader and drag-drop the images off ( The second method is how should be done to keep them from being altered ). Even the rotate/resize done by windows XP will re-save the image.

Ah I see, no wonder. I just dragged them out. So if I download them using Zoombrowser, I should be able to recopy them back without a prob?

Well it depends, If you had a compactflash card reader, and you just drag-droped it off a card, as if it were like another drive (E: for example) the file should remain intact. If instead you pluged your camera into the USB port ,and proceeded to use some kind of special software to "drag" it off the camera, there is usally software converting or messing with the image, and not copying the file raw-as-is.
