I know you are, when you talk about the pictures being posted. But then getting sidetracked into saying things like, "I have veered away from my condemnation of the adjective "awesome" which seems to be thrown about willy nilly without a thought to what it means (in the U.K. it is a much hated and often derided word) - I am leaving the people who use this term indiscriminately to destroy the very meaning of the word." really serves no purpose other than to make those who said awesome or great shot, or wonderful, [their opinion], feel bad for being nice. In the UK, awesome may be a much hated word, [your opinion], but then, the UK is just one tiny island in a big world. ;)

O.K. then, I'll give in (or give up); as I've said before Canon (and photography) is international but this forum seems to be dominated and controlled by N Americans. I don't like to be bullied by anyone. Bye bye.

Canon 400D, (1DMkIII pre-ordered), 500mm f/4 L IS, 70-210 EF, 1.4x TC, BG-E3 grip, Manfrotto 055 + Wimberley II head, Lowepro Lenstrekker 600AW backpack, Crumpler bag.
"The glass in front of the camera and the flesh and blood behind it are more important than the camera itself".

btw Awesome is not a hated word in the UK.

It depends what type of person says and and how. But at worse it would be laughed at. Mainly if a surfer dude says it and does that funny action with his fingers. It is certainly not hated.

but this forum seems to be dominated and controlled by N Americans.

I believe it's controlled by Canadians who are also North Americans. My whole point above was to voice my opinion about people trying to dominate how other people post.

Back to the regularly scheduled program...

Another run after work to take some shots at the Wetlands, with the 400 and 20D, using a monopod. Thanks for looking!
Karen

I LIKE the second shot, I wish you would have done a save-as, so we could look at your image text. If I use f/9 I get a good clean subject, with some background. If I go wide open, the subject does not seem as crisp as your shot. That second shot is a keeper, and something to be proud of. rw

Nice shots, Karen. The second one is a real beauty !

Do you mind if I try and clone out the limb over the warblers back and repost ?

Please feel free to try it...I'm just not good enough at that to try it!

If someone could walk me through the "Save as.." function as I have never used it. :)

Are you using PhotoShop? Once your all done editing, go to File/Save As. That's all there is to it. Don't use File/Save, as for some reason it strips out the EXIF data in the image.

Do you have an EXIF reader (external link) for your browser so you can see others data?

OK-I will try that next time. I don't know, I've never tried to see anyone's data. Gee that sounds kinda kinky. I usually go under "save for web".

OK-I went to "save as" and put it where I put all my shots I send. But it took forever and never downloaded so I could send it. So I'm gonna keep doing it the way I was, faster and easier. I will include data with each shot if anyone wants it. I did look at someone elses shot and couldn't see their data either, guess I don't have Exif reader.

Geez I go away for a couple of days and a heated discussion breaks out on the birdy forum. Who would have thunk-it?

Myself I like to be honest but a good many here are just good kind people. For others it might be they're afraid to give bad criticism because then they won't get as many comments on there stuff. I get the feeling some look at this as some sort of competition with the most comments making the best photographer. I say to whatever trips your trigger and makes you smile is the right way. I will continue to be honest and hopefully helpful to others! There I said it and now I'm in the dog house again!:)

Please keep saving your stuff the way you have been. I have enjoyed watching your photographic ability grow. No need for huge file size! If someone wants your EXIF they can ask or just add it to your post. Get the hint Mitch not all of us have broadband damn-it!
