@agphotography: It's a toss up for me as I really like the 35 ƒ/1.4 on the Mark III, too bad the 35 is in love with chromatic aberration which makes me come back to the 50.

You know I had a similar issue with my 35L on my original mkIII. Those two just didn't play nice. Now the 24L on the other hand was spectacular, but I really enjoy the 50L. It's just been splendid.

Some great shots in this thread. As long as you get a recent, good copy, the 50mm f/1.2 really is the best 50mm option for Canon.

My first copy exhibited some pretty significant focus shift, and so went back to where I purchased it. I then tried several Sigma 50mm f/1.4 lenses, and really liked their bokeh/color rendition, but found the Sigma QC to be abysmal. Each one I tried required anywhere from +15 to +20 micro adjustment to even get close to having accurate autofocus. I thought about going the route of sending to Sigma for calibration, but didn't want to take a chance with them coming back and saying it's in spec (a shame, given the outstanding shots in the Sigma thread). So, I returned the Sigma to the retailer today, and am hanging on to the 50 f/1.2 I also bought last week, as it nails focus perfectly, even at MFD at f/1.2. It's more expensive than the Sigma, but the autofocus is faster and more confident, and I haven't really encountered much of the dreaded focus-shift issue either (it's a UX date code - maybe that helps).

Promised myself that I'll be shooting a lot with this lens this year. :) Nothing spectacular like some of the member's work here but really want to get into snap photos.

Ok. I tried out 2 lenses today. 50L and 85L (i'm feeling like and idiot because i didn't look if it is I or II). They both looked ridiculous on my rebel.... 50L is as always awesome :) Fast focus, didn't notice any focus shift, very sharp and beautiful colors - even under the light i used it in :)
But OMG the 85! first of all it is enormous! Bigger and heavier than my current kit (lol) - and the focusing is well i don't know if slow really describes it correctly...it took him at least 3 seconds to go from one end to another. But the QUALITY - when i had to give it away, my heart cried, my mind said "What are you doing???!" but my hand didn't listen.... ;(
Here are two images, i wonder if WITHOUT LOOKING IN TO EXIF, you could say which one it is :) (i didn't do anything! )
Both taken at f2

I just got this lens.
This is my first poor attempt to shoot my 3 month old daughter at f/1.2.
The focus is suppose to be on her left eye and I probably missed it because she moves a lot, but I like the result.

First one is 50L, Second is 85L. The difference in background blur gives it out.
